C.S.I. S.r.l.
C.S.I. srl manufactures high-quality, long-lasting fire extinguishing equipment that requires minimal maintenance, even under heavy-duty operating conditions.
Our products are designed for industrial use—including complete fire extinguishing systems and equipment—and are highly reliable for operation in all types of challenging environments, both onshore and offshore, particularly within the oil & gas, chemical, and power generation and storage sectors.
By combining expert material selection, research, and continuous product development, C.S.I. srl ensures its products outperform competitors in terms of price, quality, and performance across climates ranging from frigid winters (-50ºC) to scorching summers (+60ºC). The range includes bladder tanks and proportioners that can be used either individually or in combination.
This section details the discharge devices—part of C.S.I. S.r.l.’s product range—intended for fixed or portable applications. The equipment is classified according to intended use as follows:
Low-Expansion Applications
Medium-Expansion Applications
High-Expansion Applications
Nozzles/Discharge Heads
KOW model nozzles are used for tank cooling by distributing water in a flat curtain pattern. Typically mounted upright at a specific distance from the tank's outer wall, these Tank Cooling Nozzles cool the storage tank surfaces. In the event of a fire near the tank, they prevent the tank from absorbing radiant heat. The round discharge orifice, designed without internal vanes, ensures optimal resistance to clogging and, consequently, high reliability. Tank cooling nozzles are available in brass and stainless steel. The connection to the fire main is provided via an NPT or BSP threaded fitting (DN 15 – ½”), with flow rates factory-calibrated to a metric K-factor of 95 l/min·bar⁻⁰⁵. MML-series manually operated monitors are constructed from stainless steel and are designed for waterways ranging from 2 ½” to 4”, with flow capacities of up to 7000 l/min. Featuring unrestricted horizontal rotation and no "dead zones," these monitors are ideal for high-risk environments where rapid, precise delivery of fire-extinguishing water or foam to the source of a fire is required. The monitor body typically consists of two swivel joints that facilitate both horizontal and vertical movement. These joints allow fluid to pass through the assembly while minimizing pressure loss, thanks to a smooth, non-porous internal design. Each swivel assembly incorporates two sets of ball bearings—housed in a phosphorus-bronze race and submerged in an oil bath—to ensure fluid motion. The integrity of these joints is maintained by O-rings at the inlet and outlet interfaces.
C.S.I. S.r.l. offers various monitor configurations tailored to specific client requirements, including vertical or "low-profile" (lowered) models designed to reduce the leverage effect of reaction forces exerted on the mounting base. Low-profile models are particularly well-suited for trailer-mounted applications, where managing reaction forces is critical to maintaining the stability of the unit. Furthermore, these low-profile designs are commonly used for hydrant-mounted installations, as they help minimize the lateral moments—which could otherwise lead to structural cracking—applied to the hydrant assembly. Reaction forces occur in discharge devices—such as those found in monitor systems—where the discharged fluid exits the system; these forces are calculated based on pressure and flow rates, in accordance with Newton's second law. The maximum throw distance is achieved at an inclination angle of 30–32°. Discharge devices are classified based on the type of fluid discharged, their self-foaming or air-aspirating capabilities, and the variability of their discharge patterns. The discharge patterns—which are influenced by the type of fluid being expelled—are determined by the discharge device itself. Solid streams provide the greatest throw distance, whereas spray patterns offer broader coverage, allowing for a gentler application over the protected surface. The type of foam concentrate used in a monitor system leads to significant operational differences. For instance, when FP and FFFP-AR type foam concentrates are discharged, they produce spray patterns similar to those of water, AFFF, or synthetic foam concentrates; however, the expansion of the solution during flight negatively impacts the effective throw distance. Foam monitors are designed to achieve optimal performance only when used with a specific, pre-determined type of foam concentrate from a single manufacturer.
